Leela Woodgate
Garden Facilitator - Te Manawa Ō Pāpāmoa
Kia Ora!
My name is Leela Woodgate, I live in Okere Falls with my husband and two young sons on a property where we have a shared vegetable garden and chickens with our neighbours. My background is in teaching outdoor education, and a few years ago, I did my permaculture design course because of my interest in gardening and environmental sustainability.
I am passionate about looking after our precious soil, growing kai, composting, increasing biodiversity and caring for Papatūānuku. I feel that it is important for as many people as possible to know where their food comes from and how they can best look after this planet on which we are dependent.
“Man - despite his artistic pretensions, his sophistication, and his many accomplishments - owes his existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact it rains.” Paul Harvey
