PiPS Winter Fruit Tree Pruning Workshop

Learn to Prune Like a Pro – and Support Local School Gardens!

Join us for an interactive Winter Fruit Tree Pruning Workshop with the PiPS Facilitators – a hands-on, practical event designed to empower you with the knowledge and confidence to care for your fruit trees.

This seasonal workshop is held during the best time of year to prune pip fruit trees (like apples and pears) and citrus. You'll learn key techniques to keep your trees healthy, resilient, and fruitful year after year.

What You’ll Learn:

✔ Why, when, and how to prune different types of fruit trees
✔ Identifying dead or diseased wood
✔ Shaping trees for long-term strength and productivity
✔ Seasonal best practices for PiPS fruit and citrus
✔ Hands-on pruning demonstrations and participation

You’ll walk away with the knowledge and practical skills to care for fruit trees at home, in schools, or within your community garden.

Why Attend?

This is more than just a workshop—it’s a way to give back to the community. Proceeds go directly to supporting PiPS school garden programmes across the Bay of Plenty, helping tamariki learn about sustainability, food growing, and kaitiakitanga.
